Fundraising Tip: First Things First
There is always one action that takes precedence over another.
First things first is something I learned in recovery when I first got sober.
This idea has become very important to me in fundraising, recruiting, and consulting.
It’s easy to get into the mode of multitasking. Doing everything all of the time and not focusing on one specific thing. In fact, most job postings ask that you excel in multitasking.
I am at my most productive when I work on something, do my best at it, complete it, then move on to the next thing. This benefits me, my clients, and those I am fundraising for.
Here’s an example. I have a proposal for more work with a current client. It needs to go out. I work on it, edit it, and finish it before doing anything else. It’s done, I move on to the next thing I need to do.
This way really works.
